Importing documents into ImandrA

Getting documents into ImandrA involves importing them, either from the local file system or from within an application that is integrated with ImandrA. In both cases, ImandrA presents a wizard to help you through the process.

To import documents into ImandrA from your computer:

  1. Open ImandrA, and in the Navigation pane, select the folder in which to store the document.
  2. Right-click the folder and click Import Document on the shortcut menu or click the Import Document button in the toolbar. The Open dialog appears.
  3. Select one or more files to import and click Open. The selected files are first scanned for any external references and then the Add Wizard (Step 1 of 2) dialog appears, similar to the following figure.

If you did not first select a destination folder in the vault, then the Add Wizard (Step 1 of 3) dialog may appear (depending on the vault configuration) similar to the following figure.

Click the Folder button on the toolbar to select destination folders for the imported documents and then click Next.

  1. Select a document class for the imported documents from the list. Depending on which class you select, different properties may be listed in the Document Properties and Version Properties lists.
  2. Enable Keep local copy to retain the selected files in their present location. Otherwise, the files will be deleted after they are imported into the vault.
  3. Enable Show property dialog to view or edit additional property values before the document is added. If you are importing multiple documents, the Properties dialog is displayed for each document so that you can set the documents’ properties individually.
  4. Click Next to proceed. The Add Wizard (Step 2 of 2) dialog appears, similar to the following figure.

  1. Confirm that all of the icons in the A column indicate that the actions listed in the Action column can be completed. If you do not want an action to be performed, select another action from the Action list.
  2. If any of the documents being imported has external references that are also being imported and the external references already exist in the vault, the vault copies will be overwritten with the imported copies unless you intervene. If the external references were not also checked out to you and you do not want them to be overwritten:
  1. Select the external reference and click the Find in Library button. A Select Document dialog will appear.
  2. Select the document that you want to link to the external reference’s parent document and click the OK button. The action for the external reference will change to Link to indicate that it will not be imported. ImandrA will link the external reference’s parent document to the vault copy instead of importing the external reference.
  1. When you are satisfied with all of the actions to be performed, click Finish. If you enabled the Show Property Dialog option, the Properties dialog appears, similar to the following figure. Otherwise, the documents are imported and the process is complete.

  1. Confirm or correct the displayed property values and click OK to save your changes. The documents to be added are imported into the current vault. If you click Cancel, the import operation will be canceled.
